[Sports] Barcelona agrees with Leipzig to sign Olmo

Media reports revealed that Barcelona is close to signing Spanish star Dani Olmo, a player for German club Leipzig, before the summer transfer window closes.

 

The German club rejected the value proposed by Barcelona to sell Olmo, who won the Euro 2024 title with his country, during the negotiations of the first offer.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" spoke about an offer sent by Barcelona to Leipzig to sign the Spanish international, worth 50 million euros, in addition to about 15 million euros in variables.

For his part, journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on the X platform, "Barcelona reaches an agreement with Dani Olmo on a contract until June 2030, and sends a new official offer to Leipzig."

He added, "Barcelona submitted an offer worth 55 million euros, in addition to additions worth 3 and 4 million euros."

Olmo, 26, is under contract with Leipzig until the summer of 2026.

The Catalan club turned their attention to the Leipzig player after his brilliance in the European Nations Cup with the Spanish national team, the champion of Euro 2024.

Olmo scored 3 goals in the continental tournament, and was among the top 6 scorers, and scored 8 goals and made 5 assists in 25 matches with Leipzig.

Barcelona are seeking to complete the purchase of Olmo quickly after Ernesto Valverde, coach of "Athletic Bilbao", announced that "Nico Williams" - one of the Catalan club's targets during the summer Mercato - "will not leave the team".

Press reports indicated that Manchester City is interested in signing the Spanish player, who is under contract with Leipzig until 2027. Olmo (26 years old) left Barcelona's youth academy for Dinamo Zagreb's reserve team in 2014, before joining Leipzig for 29 million euros.
